Documents in general
These are the papers we ask for most often. Get them ready to save time.
Indicative list. Each country has its own rules and a consulate may ask for other papers. We give you the exact list for your case.
- Valid passport with blank pages. The required validity depends on the country (3 months after return for Schengen, 6 months for Canada).
- Recent passport photos that meet the destination's standards.
- ID card and birth certificate or civil status extract.
- Proof of your situation: employer letter, commercial register or school certificate.
- Recent bank statements and proof of funds.
- Accommodation booking and travel itinerary.
- Travel insurance (compulsory for Schengen).
- Previous visas, and an invitation letter if you are visiting someone.
How long does it take?
Times vary by consulate and season. Here are official reference points.
Schengen (France, Spain...)
Normally 15 days, up to 45 days if the file needs more checks. You can apply from 6 months to 15 days before departure.
United Kingdom
A decision usually comes within about 3 weeks, once your documents and fingerprints are in. You can apply up to 3 months before departure.
United States
Varies a lot by embassy or consulate: appointment wait, then processing. Official times are published by the State Department.
Canada
Varies by office and season. Fingerprints and a photo are required in most cases. IRCC publishes its current times.
Other destinations
Turkey, China, Indonesia and others: rules and times depend on your profile. Ask us and we will check.
